Uterine Cancer Diagnostics
Uterine cancer diagnostics involve a combination of clinical evaluation, imaging, laboratory tests, and tissue biopsy to detect and confirm cancer of the uterus. The most common type is endometrial cancer, which begins in the lining of the uterus (endometrium). Less commonly, cancer arises from the muscle or connective tissue of the uterus (uterine sarcoma).
When diagnostic evaluation is needed
Common signs and symptoms include:
Abnormal vaginal bleeding (especially after menopause)
Bleeding between menstrual periods
Unusually heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding
Pelvic pain or pressure
Abnormal vaginal discharge
Pain during intercourse (less common)
